Majlis votes to approve the “Bill on Freedom of Peaceful Assembly”
The People’s Majlis has passed the “Bill on Freedom of Peaceful Assembly” tabled by Mohamed Nasheed, MP for Kulhudhuffushi-South.
44 MPs voted in favor of accepting the motion for debate, while 30 voted against.
Amendment to Article 37 of the Standing Orders of Majlis, as reviewed by the General Purpose Committee was approved by the Majlis with 69 votes in favour, 1 abstention and 4 against.
Addition to Article 33 (c) of the Standing Orders of Majlis, as reviewed by the General Purpose Committee was approved by the Majlis with 44 votes in favour, 1 abstention and 28 against. A proposed amendment was asked for vote which was rejected by Majlis.
The “Bill on Amendment to the Public Finance Act (3/2006)” was passed by the Majlis as reviewed by the ad-hoc Committee with a majority of 73 votes in favour, 0 abstentions and 1 against. The Bill on the amendment to the Public Finance Act (3/2006) was submitted to Majlis by Rozaina Adam, MP for Thulusdhoo.
The report on the concluded assessment of the projected budget for the Fiscal Year 2013 was presented to the Majlis floor by Gasim Ibrahim, MP for Maamingili.
When today’s Sitting was adjourned, debate was on-going on the Political Parties Bill. 09 MPs spoke on the Bill today.
The People’s Majlis will meet again on 26 December 2012.
